The history of Bethany Kindergarten Services

Geelong Kindergarten Association was founded

Bethany Kindergarten Services (previously known as Geelong Kindergarten Association) was initially formed in 1994 in response to changes in government funding and local council amalgamations. Extensive community consultation resulted in the formation of Geelong Kindergarten Association in 1996, when the licence and staff employment responsibilities of over 20 kindergartens were transferred.

Geelong Kindergarten Association merges with Bethany Community Support

In 2016, following a period of consultation, Bethany Community Support Inc. (BCS) and the Geelong Kindergarten Association Ltd. announced their intention to merge. From 1 July 2017, Bethany Kindergarten Services Ltd. (BKS) commenced operations as part of the Bethany Group.

Bethany Kindergarten Services today

Bethany Kindergarten Services operate 22 kindergartens, enabling the delivery of quality early childhood education programs for local children, enhanced by access to a range of support services for kindergarten children and families. The merger with BCS has harnessed the collective expertise of both organisations to benefit children, families, staff and the broader community. The combined operation provides services to over 8,000 children, families and individuals in the Geelong region and employs over 300 staff.

Bethany Kindergarten Services is a not for profit community based organisation that is governed by a Board of Directors.
