Grovedale Kindergarten acknowledges the Wathaurong People, the traditional custodians of the land on which we play, learn and grow. Our program embraces, respects and values the cultural richness of Australia’s families, cultures, languages, beliefs and customs.
We value a play based learning environment that encourages all children to actively construct and steer their own personal learning journey as we understand that they are competent, capable and effective learners.
Our educators offer an anti-bias program, based on the children’s emerging interests, that is a balance of intentional teaching and child driven to accommodate and scaffold each individuals skills and learning styles.
We believe that nature play encourages children to use all of their senses to learn and investigate their world. Our beautiful outdoor space incorporates many of the natural elements; water, sand, dirt, plants and fresh air, to actively engage and support children’s imagination, social skills, language, creativity and sense of belonging.
We understand that a positive environmental attitude begins at an early age, so incorporating sustainable practices within play, routines and learning opportunities is an important daily experience.
We recognise that all families, children and educators are part of a wider community. In valuing and supporting these connections, we can feel a sense of being (making meaning of the world) by actively contributing to a healthy society.
The educators strive to provide a current and relevant setting that bonds all of the needs, values and expectations of the children, families and the wider community. To provide a sense of belonging for all, we place value on open communication, positive connections, respectful relationship building and delivering an exciting, challenging and unforgettable learning environment.
